About the Course

Docker is an open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship, and run distributed applications, whether on laptops, data center VMs, or the cloud. This course introduces Docker to an Absolute Beginner using really simple and easy-to-understand lectures. Lectures are followed by demos showing how to set up and get started with Docker. The coding exercises that accompany this course will help you practice Docker commands, develop your own images using Dockerfiles, and practice Docker Compose. You will be developing Docker files for different use cases right in your browser. This way, you don’t really need to have your own environment set up to get some hands-on practice. The coding exercises will validate your commands and Dockerfiles and ensure you have written them correctly. And finally, we have assignments to put your skills to the test. You will be given the challenge to solve using the skills you gained during this course. This is a great way to gain real-life project experience and work with the other students in the community to develop a Dockerfile and get feedback for your work. The assignment will push you to research and develop your own Docker images. Docker Course Requirements 1. Basic System Administrator Skills 2. Good to have (Not Mandatory) access to a Linux System to setup Docker to follow along...

Good course! You'll learn enough to containerize personal projects and adapt Dockerfiles and docker-compose.yml you find around the internet. It's very nice to do the exercises on their own platform.

Good content for the begineers. I personally liked the lab-work, it complemented the theory really well. Overall a great course! Recommended.

Great instructor - starting in Module 5 the labs and quizzes got increasingly out of sync with what content was actually taught. For the last quiz there were at least 3 items that were never covered in the lessons. In the case of a Module 5 quiz question which required an exact match typed answer, people on the forums have been asking for a question to be reviewed for months with no answer. Were it not for these lab and quiz discrepancies with the lessons taught, this would be a 5 star course. Prepare to spend a lot more time than you should have to in the labs and quizzes so you can get to the great lesson content.

The videos and the exercises were pretty good, but the quizzes were full of ambiguously worded questions. There were way too many multiple checkbox style questions as well as freeform text questions where one misplaced space or capital letter could lead to a "wrong" answer. The subject matter of the quizzes also often did not line up very well with what was actually discussed in the videos.

outdated, many times you have to actually answer wrong to pass the tests
